Jenny Bodell Stokes (1990-2021) founded The People’s Store in 2020. She was born and raised in Idaho and boy was she proud to be an Idahoan. From a young age, Jenny loved curating one-of-a-kind items. She was an artist, stylist, and trend setter! Her determination led her to opening her own shop, The People’s Store.

Why did she pick that name?

In the early 1900s, our great grandfather worked in the shoe department of a dry goods shop in Pocatello, ID called, The People’s Store. He eventually became the owner of the shop and went on to sell clothing and shoes for many years and kept the name, The People’s Store! This photo shows the original storefront in Pocatello.

Jenny was a cultivator of kindness, celebrator of individuality, and a dreamer. The People’s Store lives on in remembrance of the light Jenny brought to the world, that will never dim.

A letter to Jenny:

Dearest Jenny,

You are my best friend. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of The People’s Store journey with you. I will never forget curating with you, laughing with you, working with you, and dreaming with you. It will forever be my life-long endeavor to share your light with the world. I love you.
